Driver Ignorance

So yesterday, with the sun shining I decided to wake the zed from its winter hibernation and drive it to work.

Driving down the A404 tracking a car in front of me, suddenly a Kia 4x4 decided to pull out right in front of me, inches ahead of my bumper. I wasn't in his blind spot either.

I put it down to another random idiot. But then the same thing happened on the way home, this time a Discovery.

Is it me, or do drivers just not see us in a Zed? :headbang:

Rant over.

Some people are just complete and utter arseholes. Hopefully, one day they pull out infront of a hgv who flattens them.

Can you tell i hate these people?

Harsh. But very, very fair :D

I think it's a combination of how low my Zed is, it's colour (stratus grey), and it's relative speed. After reading quite a few posts about members Zed's not being seen I've started using my headlights at all times (just like when I was a biker). Still got to expect inattentive drivers to do the unexpected and drive accordingly though. . . .

:driving:

One thing that really pi$$e$ me off is young GOLF GTi drivers who think they are at the brands hatch starting grid when at traffic lights. Sitting there revving up and staring across thinking they are the dog's bo***cks :x

The joy i get is when i see them getting smaller and smaller in my rear view mirror  it always makes me smile when i see the golf kangaroo between first and second as they are trying to keep up. :D

I've noticed they pull out more when driving my Z, I now drive with my headlights on all the time! I think it's because, 1 they're idiots, 2 Zeds are low, and 3 mines Black!

Those who pull out like that probably would have done so irrespective of what you drive. My Freelander must be invisible at times too. I had someone pull out from side roads on me twice in two days, the second of which pushed me into oncoming traffic. I missed being t-boned and a head on by inches :(
People simply don't look!

Help yourself by putting lights on when visibility is less than perfect and treat every other road user as a maniac who is going to do something stupid and will try and kill you. Nearly 1m miles driving experience has taught me to read what's happening - watching for signs of cars catching up with the one in front albeit slowly and to anticipate what might happen is a great skill to learn. Don't just drive with your brain disengaged. In your Zed you are lower down and harder to see, like it or not. Protect yourself - You can't switch off your concentration for a moment out there while having fun....or just getting from A to B... :driving:

The traffic gets heavier every year but, unfortunately, the overall standard of driving seems to get worse.

There is a video on the net of a Russian bus driver (the punisher) with front cam in place who just tail ends anyone who cuts him up. Seems to have happened so many times it looks like a set-up but well worth a look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG1qcIAFSwg Thank God we haven't quite got to this yet in the UK.

I've stopped using my British Racing Green Westfield on the road for exactly this reason - it's practically invisible o the inattentive as the front profile is tiny. Even with headlights on, idiots simply don't see it...although they should be able to hear it from a half a mile away
