Driver door problem

Hi

Yesterday, the drivers door started playing up.
When I come out to the car, I press unlock on the key fob. I can hear the noise of the car unlocking as normal, but when I try and open the drivers door, it won't open.
Have to lock/unlock it a few times. Or put the hood down using the keyfob, and then i can just reach inside and open the door using the inside drivers side door handle.
I checked online yesterday, and quite a lot of people have had various door problems.

I took it to MotorAid in Basildon today (there are an independent that has been recommended on here).
They had a look at the car, and the first thing they noticed was when the car locks and unlocks, the lock pins in the door (driver and passenger side) both go up and down.
However, when locked and the lock pins are down, the drivers pin is not flush like the passengers pin. It goes down further.
Hence when I unlock the car, the drivers pin is not as 'up' as the passengers pin.
He then said it wasn't the GM5 module. He said there was probably something catching on the lock, and so best to have the lock replaced.
They quoted me £60 for the lock, and £120 for labour.
Is £180 sound about right to get this fixed?
Is there anything else I should try?

I've only had the car for 11 days....and want to get this fixed soon as please.

Please advise

Thanks

They must be charging £120 an hour!
I rebuilt a whole door in 2 hour's including fitting window regulator, glass, membrane etc. To change out the whole locking mechanism shouldn't take an experienced mechanic more than an hour.

@Jonny essex - Yeah I saw the thread for the Essex meet, but couldn't make it. Hopefully I will be there for the next one. :driving:
I have seen a couple of Z4's in Essex, but don't know if they are owned by people on this forum.
Which garage do you normally use when you need something fixing on your Z4?

@stlymch - I went to MotorAid as someone had recommended them on this forum.
I went to Power Developments today, and he said he would open the door and have a look first to see if the cable or mechanism just needed re-seating.
He charges £50 per hour, and said it may be up to 1.5 hours. Once he has opened it he will let me know if I need a new lock or not.
So I have booked it in here for Tuesday morning, as he said he would at least look at it first and see if it can be fixed before ordering a new lock, whereas the MotorAid guy said to order a new lock straightaway.
