Drive shaft won't come out. Help

Hi guys,

Any tips to get a drive shaft out that doesn't seem to want to move?

I have removed the 6 bolts from the diff, the large 30mm nut from the hub but the drive shaft won't move

Need to get it out to change the bearing.

Any tips please

Do you have a hub puller?

Those spines are usually a bit stuck indeed. Either due to rust or grub or slight damage in the splines

If you dont have a hub puller (or any other puller you can use to press on the center) you can use a heavy hammer and pin and hit on the center.

Do you also have a 300Nm torque wrench for the new nut?

It should just drift out, getting them back in is worse, how are you planning on removing the hub? i used long M12 bolts through the hub and pushed against the backplate but the backplate gets destroyed, didn't matter as it was the backplate i was changing, have seen it done with a slide hammer but didn't have the space in my garage.

To get them in first use a small triangular file to file the sharp edges of the tops of the splines (the triangle wedges a bit inbetween the splines)
Then apply some copper grease and hope you get it in (the cv joint has a bit of play so you can give some hammering effect)
