drive off assist fault

Hi all I have amber handbrake light on and noticed my drive off assist is no longer working..anybody had experience of this or advice. .cheers phil.

Amber handbrake light usually means low brake fluid. The brake fluid reservoir also feeds the clutch master cylinder, so low fluid may be all that it is. Hopefully nothing more serious.

Thanks for reply..brake fluid level is fine, up to level, no fluid loss, I wonder if fluid level sensor is on its way out??

That would be my thought as well, but that does not explain the drive off failure. Unless the amber light is triggered by more than what the owner's manual indicates? Or simply a coincidence?

Or perhaps a bad wiring connection somewhere? That could explain both symptoms. I'm obviously just guessing, but I like to think they are at least educated guesses.

'drive off assist' WTF is that???????????????????????????????

This feature works when you have the clutch AND brakes engaged on an uphill incline. Once you disengage the brakes only, the car will not roll back for 2 seconds, giving you enough time to get the vehicle rolling forward without stalling as easily.

Thanks, my car is a 3.0 2005, should it have 'drive off assist'

Because fault is intermittent I think it may be a wiring issue to do with drive off assist..is there a module or something on the car associated with this..will have to start investigating... :)

Good luck with you investigation, I'm pretty good at finding things and haven't found a thing (but I'm not as motivated as you would be). My best guess is the ABS system holds or releases brake line pressure based on the state of the clutch switch.

It's a silly crutch for those that like the romance of a manual sports car but cannot actually operate a clutch properly. Much like the CDV. Though I've gotten by just fine for years without it, including San Francisco and steep mountain trails, I do admit it is kind of handy.

So if I put my foot on the clutch, this,(very anoying), feature won''t activate. Will give that a try. Drives me nuts every time I reverse off the drive.
