Drifting a Z4

I'm surprised you didn't want to put the back out at Bedford though Andy, some of those corners just beg for a bit of tail happy action!
I did.. got a little "over exuberhant" as Lewis would say, the dude came running onto the track with a sign saying "steady" 8)

Nice work! I spent most of the day last time racing a z3m which comes with no traction control as standard, things got progressively more sideways as the day wore on :) most amusing...I pity Audi drivers with their maximum efficiency quattro systems- they don't know what they're missing!

finally got round to booking my drifting day, it was a voucher for Christmas

booked for September 23rd at York, Elvington Airfield - as anybody driven there?

edit. just read a few older post, its not my car, we will be using theirs

Some nice vids here. My Nissan R33 Skyline RWD was so easy to drift/powerslide. But I had, big sway and strut bars + 18/235 on the rear and used the cheapest rubber at the tire shop. But it was just so easy to control once it lost grip, I could hit 4 - 5 turns in a single drift without much practice.

The Zed is another story tho, it seems so twitchy and hard to balance, and you can always feel the computer working against you - I mean I hardly try in the Zed as I would cry if I hit a wall lol and the nearest track is about 1200Miles away :( :x . but still it is so much more butt clenching then drifting a Jap sports car. I think I would like some professional lessons before I got serious about it in this car.

Those vids make me keeeeeeen tho

I just can't bring myself to doing that to my tires. I did a smokeshow in my Z3 once and was embarrassed as all hell, turning onto a main road in a BIG hurry, and I only smoked the M3 when the tires were old and trashed anyway. I guess I'm too cheap to waste rubber when the torque does such a good job anyway. :D

Yea, it does ruin your tires very fast. On saturday my boyfriend and I took my car out to an empty lot and messed around similar to that video (not as good mind you!) but it is very fun, however I probably took 4 months off of my tires. And I just got new ones =[ lol. But, for me it's weighing the reward vs. the fact i'll have to replace tires alot faster and the reward is worth soo much more. Love the rush.

Drifting a Z4 is hard with an open differential.

BMW are lame for not fitting proper diffs to their more powerful cars any more (sans M cars)

If I ever sold the Zed I'd be tempted to keep the diff for all the amazing memories we've had together
