dreaded soft top

just brought a 03 2.5 and the roof is struggling to open had the back wheels off to clean out drain plugs and they were blocked so i've ordered new hydro motor and sound proofing case £346 from bmminiparts.com and me and a mechanic friend are going to tackle the job next wednesday and to make matters worse looks like someone has tried to repair it and the soft top has come away from the corner of the frame by the bottom of the passenger side window so when you put it up it catches on the rubber and bends back around don't know how i'm going to repair that yet, it looks like the canvas is stuck to the plastic guide tried looking at the parts diagram but seems to be part of the framework
 
Good luck. Just had mine repaired at the dealers - £870 in total. Hope it goes ok!

well just done this today and to be fair it wasn't too bad trickest bit was removing the top from the clips on the sides and putting them back in again got to thank shipkiller for his how to only problem i have now is when i raise the roof its pulling on the side rubbers and pulling them out and bending the bottom of the top around so will have investigate tomorrow
 
the rubber behind the doors was the problem got them out today and cleaned the rubbers and body of car with meths then used no nails double sided tape and job is sorted
