Dreaded dash lights - best scan tool recommendations please!

Hi all

Just got back from a trip out and have four lovely yellow dash lights showing: ABS, Brake, Tyre pressure and DSC.

I have a simple code reader at the moment (Autel AL319) but it’s showing no codes - I think because it’s mainly for engine management. So I’m after recommendations from Z4 owners on what reader is best

Can Carly do this job or is a proper code reader better. The Creator C310+ gets good reviews but is older now so is there a better one?

your views welcomed!!!

Those four are almost certain to mean one of the wheel speed sensors is duff, or has crud on it, or if it's a rear one it could be the reluctor ring corroded away on the hub. If the speedo works you can discount the rear left one.
Creator C310+ will do the job, and much more besides. Personally I have the Autophix 5900 which to all intents and purposes seems to be a match for the Creator.

Thank you sir. So I’ve done a quick check and confirmed neither the traction control nor ABS work at the moment :driving:

I’ve not long replaced the front rings and sensors with quality parts so shouldn’t be the fronts (unless I didn’t put them in right but it’s been several months now). Will take a look at the back right.

Cheers

Bear in mind it is not 100% definite to be that. Could still be the sensors on the DSC unit or indeed the yaw sensor. You do need to get the codes checked.
