Drain Plugs for roof

A few people have told me there is some potential for drain holes (look at your back wheel the plugs are located at around 16:00 just above the sill) to block, and water can gather around the roof motor.

I had a look on You Tube for a video on how to do this, then borrowed a friends flat drive (mine is a steep slope) then (and this is the easy bit) my son who is an engineer and my friend took the wheels off and undid the little panel, I pulled the plugs out and cleaned them poked a bit of wire up the hole, they put it all back together again. I took the opportunity to let my friend clean the alloys inside face and then it all went back together again, one plug had a few bits of pine tree in it but the other was free and clean.

I think its worth checking if you suspect rain will have washed pine needles, leaves etc down into the drain holes, I was reassured by the experience .

Hi, it's good to clear the drains but don't forget to test them by pouring water down the side of the roof-it's the only way to know for sure if they are clear

Thanks Rob I hadn't thought to do that, the You Tube video shows the chap hoovering the holes out, but I wasn't convinced that would work, testing them sounds very sensible.
