Yes, I did this as soon as I bought the car, it's quite easy to do.
 
if anybody does put any drainage pipes etc to help with the drainage and where it empties to (i.e not in the sideskirt) then please be sure to take some photos as im sure a few would like to do it aswel.... myself included :D
 
The drain holes on top are really tiny and only the right one can barely be seen with good light. Both can be quite easily visualized using an endoscope or a mini camera and can be probed with a nylon wire or similar. Probing is pointless, I think, as pouring water through the drains flushes debis down the drains as well. Looking at Shipkiller's DIY photos and using a mirror managed to locate the lower drain plugs. They are accessible without removing panels and can be cleaned by finger, without visual control. Does require laying on garage floor and some carpal joint mobility. Zed joga.
 
Crap design only takes two mins to check, no need to remove anything just lay down and feel for opening 6 inches in front of rear wheels, feel around and locate rubber bung, pull out with fingers and poke around with piece of flexible wire, will not harm if you leave bungs out.
Its not a major chore just check regularly and have peace of mind. Cheers all Baz :thumbsup: :driving:
 
I did mine yesterday, couldn't find the bungs so jacked up the car and removed the wheels and splash guard. Had bought a drain cleaner thingy which promptly lost the brush halfway up the chuffing drain on first use, took an hour + to get the damn thing out, which left me with bruised and bloody hands. The good news is the drains were clear, i just need to get in the habit of checking them often :thumbsup:

Great-What did you use to extend the pipe ? ( diameter,etc )
Is there a standard type of tube I can buy off the shelf in B&Q or a Home Brew shop, etc ?

Ideally I'd like to lose the crossed bung and extend the tube on down below the sill.
 
Personally if it's your first time clearing the drain holes it's better to take the wheel off and the plastic cover.
That way you know what to look for next time.

I've got a usb endoscope and cleaned the right hand side from above. Not got round to the left side yet.
 
Hi mate. My driver side was blocked and the well thing was full of water so i bought this cheapo big plastic syringe with a plastic tube on end off amazon for a quid to suck all the water out and i could see green gunk at the bottom so i taped a bit of kitchen roll on a long chop stick and cleaned out all the crap and hey presto it drains fine now :D
