DRAGON'S TAIL MEET (26 May)

I lifted this from tailofthedragon.com. Seems this area is even getting more visibility from the LEO's than last year! :thumbsdown:


May 2-4 : Probably the busiest week-end so far this year with MiniCoopers dominating the area roads. A power failure in the Deals Gap/Fontana area made things a little difficult on Saturday. We heard NCHP were active on the Cherohala and on the 4-lanes. Remember, the 4-lanes are prime target areas in North Carolina.>> CLICK HERE FOR MAP

We heard a number of cars were ticketed on NC 28 while driving in a group even though only one was actually clocked. Troopers use "probable cause" to write the entire group. We suggest complaining by phone to the Clerk of Court or County DA about such outrageous tickets. Contact us for more information here.

There is an unmarked white BCSO Expedition cruising the Dragon. They also have an unmarked black Explorer and black Mercury Marquis. We have also heard of tickets issued for 42 and 44 mph in the ridiculous 30 mph area
 
JB, we just have to make sure we don't go more then 10mph over the speed limit. A little boring considering the ability of the Z, but the scenery will be better appreciated and we will at least get to meet some new friends, which is the best part anyway :thumbsup:

MEET POINT: Gas station at the corner of HWY 129 and HWY 28 (Dragon starting point).

What an awesome GTG! If anyone ever gets the chance to run The Dragon, by all means do so! We were there early, which meant the roads were fairly clear, and LEO had not shown up yet :D Almost through my 2nd return trip when the local enforcement finally showed up,,,,,and we all started to behave, at least until they were out of sight :evil:
 
Agreed....it is one helluva run especially for a Z4. Glad to hear you made it!! Any pics of the group that made the run yet?

BTW, that is me and the wife with the LEO behind us :thumbsdown: Luckily, we had already done almost 2 full runs up/down the "Tail of the Dragon" before they showed up. They showed up right around lunch time, so guess what we did. :P
