My wife is working in la next week , she has 2 x 4 hour slots to herself , is there anything worth seeing within a half hour taxi ride ? A mate who lives there could only recommend a hire car and a few extra days . Remember that she's on limited time and by herself

The Hollywood studies aren't too far from Town. Been a long time since I was there though. I expect there is a lot of traffic these days.

I'd recommend Griffith Park Observatory (if the Mrs likes that type of thing) which would be on the limit of 30 minutes from downtown.

You get great views of the whole city and the Hollywood sign.

Travelling by Uber makes it cheaper too!

Cheers , she looked to see what's there but it turns out it's not very much ! She was aware of Venice beach so she'll do that , if only for a couple of hours .
I turned the opportunity to go with her , 3 day trip to California , takes almost as long to get there and back !

Venice beach and santa Monica pier are a good visit. The pier is the end point of route 66

you can hire bikes to ride along by the ocean.
If she likes natural history the La Brea tar pits on Wilshire Blvd are well worth a visit.

There's the Hollywood walk of fame, with plenty of other attractions in that area. Pretty entertaining just watching some of the characters that perform there too. Venice and muscle beach are worth a visit too.

Solo lady hanging around muscle beach , just as well we trust each other
I'm sure she'll find something to do , it was just in case there were any must see things , from what we both read there's not much there for a tourist , that's probably the reason for having the meeting there , keep them focused .

Good call on both Griffith Park and Uber  Don't go of a Monday though as it shut. You can still do the James Dean bit though and get up on the roof.
