Our 2 girls still have their cars and I'm keeping the Z4 but Mrs Gunn has decided to part with her beloved Defender(Nellie)
Going to a farm in Ayrshire.......don't think it was ever in low ratio or had diff lock engaged in the time she's had it......or winch used for that matter. :lol:
It'll be good to have another "normal" vehicle......defender was nice to look at but not a great drive dynamically......trying to not be cruel as old defenders are not really suited to road miles.
It was an experience shall we say :driving: :thumbsup:

My mate had a Land Rover with a lift kit and winch and bucket seats etc
I was in it once and swore I would never be in it again.
Horrible thing, noisy, no movement in the seats, no radio...

That about sums it up,apart from the radio........
....but you can't really hear that!!

Yes but I can assure you in the environment for which it and other proper 4x4's were designed for, you have no interest in radios, comfort and seat movement. Getting across the river, up or down a slope, through a forest, etc. is what matters and they happen to be pretty good at it.

They definately have their uses but for someone staying in Glasgow and this was going to be his daily driver it was a mistake.
He wasnt particularly handy with tools and it seemed every other week it was in a garage getting something fixed.
I couldnt have went off road with him in it as my knees were hard up against the dash with nowhere to go.
Best thing about it was the plate P**MUD
 
Bet you don't get those pesky cars park right next to you in car parks ….
 
Spot on,it's quite an intimidating presence and no chance of picking up trolley/door dings as everything is at a level with the bumpers and rock sliders........still not going to miss it though.
We've barely had any snow thru' all the winters she's had it and after using an old Audi quattro avant I had I think that's the only reason she bought it.
Might've been interesting to try it out off-road...had Cooper STT tyres and an air locking rear diff alongside the standard diff lock and low range gearbox.....it was in too good condition to risk denting any of the panels though.
