Double garage or twin garage?

Interesting...
I have Nationwide coming around tomorrow to quote for the same project. Remove the pillar and install large roller door.
They will have to install an RSJ too.

Interesting, will be interested to see what they say. Not sure the gap in mine is supporting so not sure if I would need an RSJ or not, will have to see... have a funny thing the bathrooms will have to be done first though, LOL!

Nice bathrooms set the house off I think, so I'd do that first and sod the garage :thumbsup:

oh.... I see.... so having one door means you can't park two cars side by side anymore... :poke: :headbang:
 
My house in Walla Walla has a single stall garage on the left that is isolated from a two stall garage on the right. The single stall has aircon and heat. The large stall has a single large door. Put an epoxy coating on the floor to boot. I found that with the zed being wide and low. using the single stall made for a few close calls with the side mirrors.

One can get a light weight alu door with polystyrene for insulation/sound deadening.

Well, just put down the deposit!
They will be removing the pillar, installing a large L shape steel and also one on the side for extra strength.
The door will be as close to the end of the wall as possible to give as much length as they can (potential 5 series touring fitment).
Nice brown electric roller door.
The original estimate was 4 and a bit and the final cost is just a bit more.
 
I am in the process of dealing with mine now, bought the big melamine boards now (2.44 m * 1.22 m). Much nicer finish than paint and again, not so vulnerable as plastering. Besides, I could not cope with the mess of plasterers ...

Do you have a link for an example? Sounds interesting.
 
Will create a dedicated thread to it, I have put the structure up on one wall so far, including a new socket right next to the engine bay so the CTEK charger can be mounted in place.

Will take the pictures as well. The boards are £25 each for the size mentioned above by the way and 20 mm thick.

Nope, there's no trailer-mount on the Z4:

Cheers, let me know when you post up the pictures. Where did you get the boards? Just curious incase I can get some before my new door arrives.

Agreed, you can do most of the work yourself and it really wont cost the earth too. And the benefits will outweigh the costs IMO
