I work from home and am FED UP with door-to-door salesmen that won't stay away with their wonder roofs and miracle windows. So I've adapted the Martin Lewis flyer in a stylish but ANGRIER pocket size, cutout and stick by the doorbell kinda way.

Feel free to download and share :)

(BTW I was a door-to-door salesman for a while in the late 80s, and would have been more than happy to see a sign like this and know not to waste time at that particular house)

I have something similar to this on my door... yet still have jesus and labour party lovers knock on my door.

clearly these people cant read :headbang:

Grumpy old man !
I work from home too sometimes, but simply lock myself in the studio at the back of the garage, where I can't hear people knocking/ringing.

I would knock on your door on purpose if I read that , but then I am tempted by buttons that say "Don't press" and have to walk across the grass when there is a sign forbidding you to do so.

"Please leave and do not return, failure to do so is a criminal offence" what law exactly are they breaking?

If you don't want cold callers knocking then a gated estate with security is probably the best answer.

"Guidance we've had from Trading Standards says ignoring a sticker may be a criminal offence under the Consumer Protection From Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. While it's not been tested in court, a QC agrees with this so we've added it to our sign. If they knock when they shouldn't, there can be no argument."

I don't have a problem with charity door knockers (apart from the ones who want you to sign a direct debit on the doorstep!) if they knock after working hours.

Jehovah's God botherers can bugger off though

I had a jehovas witness knock on my door when a mate was round. We'd had a few drinks and invited him in.

Needless to say he got fed up before we did, and made an excuse and left.

There are 4 JWs that come round my area every 6 months, but it's only the 30-something blonde girl that gets my time

I needed it yesterday... to save me from the JW's

Do you do a version for us Brits... of red white & blue?

I bought a sign off e-bay re. no salesman and religous canvassers along with a "Beware of the Dog" sign (don't have a dog :D ) Next day the God Squad came knocking at the door, I answered the door, pointed at the sign and before they could preach said "Didn't God teach you to read" and shut the door in their face :D

You wouldn't have been good working at my old office. (A nuclear missile silo in the great plains of America.) It might be considered bad manners should one press the wrong button. Not to mention the Global Thermo-Nuclear war you may have just started.

We've had a sign similar to that on our door window for about 2 years now, people still knock on the door to try and sell stuff or preach :headbang:

Nice one Tim.

Some people can't take no for an answer.

In the UK my landline number is unlisted and registered with the Telephone Preference Service to avoid unwanted sales calls. Here in Oz, as soon as we set up our landline, the 'phone started ringing several times a day, always from "the technical department". The caller was never from the actual company with whom we hold our telephone and broadband package, but other companies who had clearly purchased our number from a list and hoped to poach business. Now, as soon as they tell me they are from the technical department, I tell them how wonderful it is to hear from them and that I have been eagerly awaiting their call. I explain that I have the perfect cable telvision package just for them. I then proceed to give them the hard sell and try to persuade them that they cannot live without what I have to offer....they always give up before I do and strangely the calls have become somewhat infrequent of late :D
