door panel removal

Has anyone removed the internal door panel and got any 'how to' tips for me. My drivers door has the annoying tinny clang when it closes whereas the passenger one closes 'just like a golf'!! I've bought some of that black sticky anti resonance sheet for it but would like some advice on getting the panel off

Done the panel. :D followed YouTube video and it came off a treat. Stuck some anti resonance black sticky bitumin type panels to the inside of the door skins. Seems to sound better but still not as nice as I want so on the hunt for some better stuff. If anyone knows of any I can soon whip the panel back off!! :P

Hmm. That's a bit disappointing, I was planning on doing the same thing for the same reason, just hadn't found the time yet. To me, it sounds like something else is contributing to disagreeable noise rather than just the door tin reverberating, though that obviously is part of it. To me, it sounds like the glass is rattling a bit, but I'm not sure what it really is. I do believe perfectly deadening the door tin would still leave a disagreeable noise, but I have no basis in fact. Keep us updated if you find a better solution.

It is better than it was definitely. I also just loosened the latch and moved it back slightly which made the door pull in a bit more. This made a difference as well. Did it a bit too much to start with and almost couldn't open the door!! :o

Just been out in the car and maybe I was a bit critical of the difference it made. It does sound better. I think perhaps when I was doing it I was opening and closing the door so often that it all sounded the same!! So yes I think it does sound quite good now :thumbsup: certainly worth doing

I have used roof flashing for this precise job on my 1971 Range Rover, they sounded like everything was about to fall out of them, just put a couple of layers of the bitumen roof flashing inside using a handheld blowtorch to heat up the strips before fixing them, (could use a hairdryer) but I don't have one... or hair.

Cheap and very effective.
 
only problem I had really was a couple of pieces were reluctant to stick. I think there was some kind of waxoil on the panel. I put a bit of solvent on it and it seemed to work...probably find the door rusts like hell now, but at least it will clonk :D
