After noticing my glass is starting to wobble about a bit and reading how to fit new after it’s fell out ,I’d rather preempt that. How do remove the glass so as to reapply sticky stuff to it ?
Bizarre this just popped up...I had wobbly nearside wing mirror on way to work yesterday morning. It was the glass starting to separate from the heated back plate. I stopped as soon as I spotted it...and good job I did, the mirror glass pulled away from the backing really easily, so I popped it inside the car for safe keeping. Got home and thoroughly cleaned both surfaces with rubbing alcohol and then applied a thin layer of clear silicone to both surfaces. 24hrs later good as new.
This just happened to my drivers side glass Luckily it happened while closing my door so able to catch it before it smashed or scratched my paintwork.
Could be worth checking your door mirror glass as this seems to be a common issue.....
Mine fell off last week too, but just the glass itself (not the backing plate as well, as shown in the pics posted in the reply further up this thread). Hopefully the £5.99 ebay replacement will do the trick
I lost my passenger side mirror 2 days ago. When closing the door it fell to the ground, and broke in a thousand pieces. So I did all that I could, which was drive to work and stuck a plastic bag around it later in the day . Currently still waiting for the ebay replacement...
