Door membrane

Hi guys, I have been busy today taking my door cards of to chase speaker cable wiring and to sound proof the doors. Once I got the door cards off I could see that somebody careless has already been here , the foam membrane is damaged and missing on one side . I'm looking at replacing it. I have been told that it is £40 a side from BMW. I have seen 3M foam or some sound proofing foam, I know it needs to be waterproof. Has anyone else done this?. I wish people would be careful when doing work on cars half off the door poppers are broken and the trim on both door handles the clips are damaged . I know when you get a car second hand that you expect ware and tare but when you find bits damaged through neglect it's annoying.

Yup.
I took a deep breath and stumped up the money for both sides - probably makes life a fair bit easier when refitting having the foam mould to all the lumps and bumps perfectly, though I'm sure a generic solution may be an option.

Having said that, under £100 all in (including new butyl) was priceless for me as it gave me a dry car

Which side is missing OP? I have a brand new driver's side membrane sitting in my spare room that I don't need (my p/s was destroyed and I got a set off a forum member a while back). I've also got a roll of butyl adhesive that's perfect for fitting it (just a pain to clean the old stuff off). I'd be happy to let it go for a few quid + postage.

If this is for an E85 and the OP doesn't want it I'd be keen to take it off your hands!
