Hi all my boys has a Vw lupo and has trouble opening doors in frosty mornings as he has no Central locking is there any tricks out there

He could try treating the door rubbers with gummi pflege, it conditions the rubber as well as making it more weather proof

Ah, just noticed it's the lock itself that's frozen, try some graphite lubricant

I used to blow into my locks on my cars without remote central locking - which was almost all through the Eighties - not putting your lips on the metal or they will stay there. Lean down tot eh lock. Say 'O' and give a number of long blows. Heat the key up in hot water or something and work it carefully into the lock. Worked fine for many years, back when we used to have proper winters.

Thanks guys I'll try that in morning and I'm going to try gaffs tape over the keyhole

Wd40 or gt85 into the locks. Never had an issue with my old cars. Don't worry about it with remote locking although I should use them now and then.

Good ideas there.

But I'm a smoker (so I shouldn't really be here now!) but as a last resort I heat the key with my cigarette lighter - never failed yet!

Not a smoker but I had to do that every winter on a rover metro. Works great

Think I saw a YT vid showing that dipping the key in Vaseline then cycling the lock seems to free up in ice
