Door lock issue

My 2007 E85 has had sporadic issues with door locks. Now the passenger door will not unlock unless you hold down the central lock button until the locks begin to cycle and while the locks are cycling pull the interior door latch. All other functions related to the GM5 module seem to work properly. I reached out to Scott Johnson, the GM5 guru in California, and he responded that these symptoms are not typical of GM5 failure. Do I have to go through the ordeal of door actuator replacement, or……? Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated. BTW, the passenger door cannot be unlocked from the outside using the key fob.

BMW made these basic functions (like locking the door) way too complicated. I don't have a solution for you, but feel your pain. My driver door wouldn't even latch the other day to stay closed. I had to drive the short distance home, holding the door closed. A bit of fiddling with the latch and a healthy spray of Wd40 directly into the latch fixed the issue for now.

The only way I can lock my '07 and not have the garbage BMW alarm go off for no reason is to crawl through the passenger side, manually lock the driver door, and then lock the passenger door whilst crawling back out. Locking the doors via key press or key into the driver door lock cylinder causes the alarm to go off at random times.

Probably grime or moisture in/on the interior radar detector. You can always use another of BMW's excessively complicated options of locking the door with the fob and then press lock again to cancel the interior and tilt sensors.

When I get new batteries in my 2 keys, I could do that. I believe the lock press x 2 disabled the interior cabin sensor. Recently both of my keys stopped working. They both start the car, but no buttons work. Charging them via wireless toothbrush bases didn’t work. Not bad for 19 year old tech; those old batteries had to fail at some point.
