Door handle won't open the door!

Hi guys,
I've been having this weird issue with my Z4. If it sits in the sun, the driver side exterior door handle won't open the door anymore... and it's been getting worse and worse over the last couple of weeks. The interior door handle works just fine, and so does the central locking. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks!

Well known issue bud

Heat affects the cable which will have stretched over time

You can effect a temp repair to reduce the pull length by popping some washers in the mechanism

Ultimately you’ll need to replace the Bowden cable

As jobs go it’s not the easiest but plenty of how to guides

Take your handle out of the door and check the teeth that operate the cable, you’ll probably find they have worn away.
