A passenger managed to make some holes in the trim which goes over the door handle... no problem I thought, I'll just order a new one and switch them over.
I ordered it from BMW direct (on ebay), I supplied them with my VIN.
It turned up today... the new one seems to be a completely different shade of grey (the old one's on the top, new one on the bottom):
The numbers visible on the back of both parts match, so I'm wondering which is of these is true:
- there's more than one shade of grey this part is available in
- it's been affected by the sun (though I'd expect it to get lighter??)
- layers and layers of dirt? (tried cleaning it, didn't seem to affect it)
I'll probably just go and buy another for the other side, but just curious!
