Door Handle Opener Not Opening

My fantastic Zed now has a non opening driver's door all of a sudden.

Scenario is this:

Unlock the door locks via key less remote or manual key.

Pull on the outer door handle and NOTHING happens

So what i have to do is go to the passenger side and enter the zed and open the driver's door using the interior door handle opener :headbang:

Its really these little problems that annoy me because even our 15 year old Japanese car never encountered such problems.

Anyway to those that encountered this, what was the faulty part?

Thanks in advance

I had this and i eventually had to buy a door latch assembly, cost around £117 inc VAT from BMW. Possibly just a streched cable from the door handle so not releasing the latch.Do you find by leaning in from the passenger side the inner handle opens the drivers door ok?

What i mean is.........if your drivers door doesn't open via the outside handle, will it still open using the inside (door panel) handle? It might just be the the cable between the outer handle and the latch assemble as these can stretch.A new cable costs around £6 from your BMW dealer, basicaly get your door panel off and have a look that way your can see if it's the latch or cable at fault.

this happened to me a few weeks ago on a trip to san francisco. we tried unlocking the car via the key and also used the unlock button inside the car and the passenger door would not open at all. i had to fuss with it and keep locking/unlocking the door until it finally gave way. luckily nothing had to be replaced... but it still scared me a bit considering that s**t never happens.

and it hasnt happened since, either!

Yes it opens via the inside handle, in fact that's how i open it now, as indicated in my first post i go thru the passenger side to reach the driver side interior door handle and open it :)

Thanks for the input, will try to open it up and see. Hopefully its just some loose connectors/screws
