Door handle fell off

So I opened up the door and the handle felt a little loose. Pull the door open again and, well, pulled the handle clean out of the door:

I've kind of slotted the handle back in, but it's clearly not attached to anything substantial. Anyone have a guide on how I put it back together properly?
 
FYI for anyone suffering the same prob - something was broken and BMW had to replace the handle. All fixed under AUC warranty :)
 
Hi Boogle,
I had the same problem,after two weeks of ownership my handle just dropped off ,there is a slider bar which holds the handle in placed ,accessed through a little hole in the end of the door,but its difficult to fix ,need a special tool to push/pull to locate.
In the end i simply stuck it back with clear silicone sealant,not very proffessional,but after 8000mls its still there :)
My zed came with a BMW APPROVED CAR WARRANTY,and of course it wasnt covered :(
despite lots of arguements with the dealer /warranty,they refuse to fix it.
