Door falling apart !

Hi,

hearing a clanging sound from the door I took the side off and found a metal object attached to nothing freely moving about.

Is this part, with no lh 992346, part of the door ?

If so what does it do and where does it go.

Yes, but I cant find it. The door images dont seem to go that detailed.
