Door dropping

My newly acquired 3.0i has a problem with the driver's door, in that as you open it or close it you can feel a slight drop when it's about halfway.
I'm finding it difficult to see whether this is the hinge pin itself or whether something is loose where it mounts to the door.
It closes fine and sits perfectly in line when it is closed.
Has anyone experienced this? It doesn't seem to be a common issue that I can find.

I'm going to attempt my door swap next week following Chris_D sending me the guide on my post: but I've never seen door drop issues on an E85

E30- different story!!!

You’d think that if it was just a worn pin then the door would drop as soon as it unlatched & not wait until the halfway point?

It is an odd one.
Just been looking at Realoem. Do they actually have a hinge pin? It seems to show bolts going in from top and bottom of the hinge.
I thought these were blanks (bear in mind I come from old Fords, with hollow roll pins and blanking caps so I may be making some wrong assumptions)

You sure there's not some mythical relay involved Rob? :poke: :D

Now you mention it there may be a DDR (door dropping relay) incorporated in the circuitry, I’m not 100% sure where it is though….. :P
