Door cards > Airbag light

Hoping someone can help…

This morning I removed both door card to replace the clips as both doors rattled when I closed them. Having successfully done this (nice thud now when they close rather than rattle!!) I then went for a spin and notice the airbag light has come on… this could have been caused by hitting the door cards to ensure the clips clipped in? Any thoughts?

To clear the airbag light do I need a scanner? If so any suggestion on a scanner to buy?

Thanks in advance 😊

I don't think hitting the door would normally cause the light to come on as I've done it quite a few times without problem. I think it's more likely the airbag connector got disturbed during the fettling. If the airbag is disconnected with the battery still connected it will give a permanent warning until reset by a suitable scanner.
I'm sure colb will be along soon as he is the guru on airbags & scanners....

Took door card off again all connections look good… so annoying! Looking at the 1.4.0 scanner does anyone know if this one will enable me to remove the airbag light?

I have also just amended the steering setting using the well documented steering column adjustment - adjusted about 5mm which had very little affect but so then adjusted to about 10mm/12mm and the steering and car now feels like a go kart! So much more responsive! I only mention this incase I could have disturbed something under there that could have affected the airbag light now being on?

Any help appreciated….

Creator 310+ seems to get reviews on here.
Use the search function and you'll find lots of info about it and airbags on this site.

Here I am, Can confirm the Creator 310+ is a good diagnostic tool for a beginner to use for airbag fault finding and reset of codes as well as a host of other functions. Circa £50 on ebay and Amazon will pay for itself first time you use it to scan the car for fault codes.
As to your problem scanning it will show up what has set the airbag light so you will have a pointer to know where to look for the problem.
Thumping the door cards shouldn't have upset the airbags in the doors unless the connections on them were iffy. Usual problem is the underseat airbag connectors either loose or dirty that trigger the light when the seats are moved. Cleaning the connections and ensuring they are tight usually resolve the issue. The Creator 310+ will clear the codes and turn the airbag light off as long as the fault is fixed. If it remains it will set the code again and light the warning light again. If you remove the seat to get underneath it always disconnect the battery before doing so and do not switch the ignition on with any of the airbags wiring disconnected, it will set codes and bring the light on.

I’ve not touched the seat only the door cards… is it worth removing and reconnecting the connectors under the seat?

I'd just start by getting a scanner and resetting. Then you'll see where the fault is.

So borrowed an v1.4.0 scanner and after the usual faffing to get the scanner to work I finally was able to read the error. It showed up quite a few errors initially which were probably old non current errors as after clearing all codes the only one that came back on was the airbag light error…!!! The only thing this scanner then tells me is that DTC is “Hex20” or “Dec32” “Airbag Lamp” -

Can anyone tell me any more from this info?

Thanks in advance

Thats a code from the Instrument Cluster reporting that the airbag light is lit.
Why its lit will maybe in the SRS module but Scanner 1.4 is showing no faults.
I had issues clearing a self inflicted airbag light, I switched ignition on with a seat disconnected and out of the car. Scanner 1.4 and INPA couldnt clear the light or detail the fault that caused it. I then bought a Creator 310+ scanner and that found the code straight away in the B Post satellite module, cleared the code and the light went out. Not had it return since then.

:) Thanks Colb….

I actually whizzed the seats out today (battery disconnected) to check all connections and all appears okay. Ran the scanner 1.4.0 again cleared errors then ran again - all showed clear with no errors at all yet airbag light is still on :headbang:

I have now ordered a Creator c310+ Which should be here tomorrow we’ll see what that throws up

Thanks again!!

Creator c310+ arrived today ran diags… found and cleared faults - airbag light now off!! Took car for spin… returned check and so far light still off

Thanks for all the help… it may come back on yet but so far so good 😊
