Door card removal

This might be a stupid question, but I'm trying to remove my drivers side door card to repair the membrane and try and find out what's rattling in there....

I've removed the torx bolts under the airbag badge, the one behind the door handle and the one behind the trim in the grab handle.
Then pulled away the door card away from each side and the bottom of the door, started pulling the top away exposing those little metal clips, but when I get about half way along the top, it dosen't seem to want to come away.

What else have I missed removing, as it still seems to be fairly well attached to the door at this point. Do I just need to be more forcefull?

Cheers

From memory it was a big tug to get mine of. As long as all the screws are done then gradual force is the only way. Not nice feeling like your going to break something though :(

Cheers for that, at least I'm on the right track!
Do you remember if there are any of those clips right in the middle of the door? definately feels like it's being held by more than just the clips at the top.
Gonna just have to man up and give it a good tug!

Ah, I just removed the top one, I though the lower one was just holding the thing to the door card.

Looking on here though, it suggests I don't need to remove any of the ones behind the door opener or the handle, just the airbag one.

:)

that is exactly the same mistake i made.

nope, take it off too. when it is off youll see there is a metal protrusion from the door itself for the lower one. the handle doesnt come away, it is all part of the card.

you need to do the door opener and airbag too

then start at at a corner and gently ease off.

when it is off it would be worth checking the state of the cables on your regulator as they fail due to cable wear around the wheels

Excellent, thanks for that. How stupid do I feel!
I'll give it another go tomorrow evening I think, this time without having a strop because it won't come off :)

That window has recently started rattling and making squeeking noises, so I was going to try tightening a screw that was mentioned somewhere else on here. Will check the cables too.

There's actually 3 holding on the door handle if you want to be accurate. A large one at each end and a smaller locking one at the bottom edge.

Dont forget to also take the inner mirror cover off, else you risk breaking it.

I suggest you free the door card at the bottom and then up the sides and when you get to the top edge pull the rear clip off first then using a finger as a wedge to prise the remaining clips off working rear to the front. They come off horizontally not vertically or any other angle.

You'll need to remove the window switch plate, door pull bowden cable and associated wires such as door speakers before you can get the card right off.

Hope that makes sense. (It wil once the door card is off...lol)

It's quite an easy job to get the door card off once you take out all of the screws!

The membrane itself is in a bit of a sorry state, someones had a go at it with gaffer tape before, but i've gone over it again with some bathroom sealant and more gaffer tape.
Hope it dosen't rain before it dries!

Cheers for all the help!

As my dad used to tell me 'everything is easy when you know how'

Glad you got it sorted.
