door card leather wrap... cost?

I keep thinking I want to rewrap the whole door card in leather (red and black mix), but not if it's going to cost the earth...
Has anyone done this or maybe have an idea of price?

correct. but I've tried finding one in the colours I would like, and it seems an impossible mission.
 
Trust me there is noone who can bring off the feel and look of the genuine extended leather door.

I currently have sepang bronce extended leather door cards.
They have great look and luxurious feel.

They prices are really high and used parts dont seem to come up.

I have a small wear in my left door card and tried to find one,but gave up the try.

I dunno.. I used a coachbuilder yonks ago for a complete rewrap of a 300zx and the quality of workmanship was second to none.
I'd have gone back, but they've ceased doing that sort of work now.

Precisely why I've also given up.. too expensive and rarer than rocking horse diamond pooh with a unicorn horn.

I've had my door card's central panel leathered in black Nappa last week and I've had my seats done in the centres too. I wasn't happy with the standard sport seat. I think you may be able to get the door cards done for around £250 for both but that's just the central insert not the whole panel. I can ask the guy who did mine if you like ?

That's more like the price I was looking for!

I would want two colours, something like Montana Tanin Red for the "standard" leather bit, and black nappa for the "extended" bits..
If he could quote for that, I'd be interested.

I'd probably get the seats redone while I'm at it for about that price too...
 
My mistake bro, I just looked at the extended leather panel as I've never seen it before and that's the whole door card. Let me find his number and email him the panel on ebay to quote on it there's a lot of labour involved stripping the seats and rebuilding them and Nappa is the more expensive option.
I paid £800 for the centre panels quilting in black Nappa on the door cards and the centre panels of both seats quilting black and he did the handbrake cowel and the two little kidney things at the side of the central tunnel.

that's cool.. it's really just the door cards I am after at the moment.
I'd probably want to do the dash panel in the future, but I've not decided.
The seats would get done too... but I may change my mind and get a set of //M sport seats first - i'm not sure :)

It's all something for next year anyways, so there's no rush - but if his quote is within budget, and you recommend his work, then he'll be the first I call when it's time :)
 
Okay that's cool. I haven't got my car back from the garage currently doing some mods on it and he's just phoned me and asked if he can keep it for another week due to other commitments ! While I was there recently I saw that the seats and door cards were out of the car and just loaded them into my estate car. Once back home I started looking for anyone who would do the leather work. I wanted the quilted look ( diamonds ) to the central sections of the sport seats, the central sections of the door cards, U shape cowel around the handbrake and the two kidney shaped panels either side of the central tunnel in quality Nappa leather.

Locally I was quoted £2,500 by a bespoke vehicle upgrading service and the rest were over £1300. I also sent an enquiry to Paul in Colchester and he quoted me £1000. I spoke to him on the phone and said I would have to travel from the North and that I wanted to haggle. Agreed on £800 and that I was dropping the seats etc off to him that night which I did and 4 working days later the seats etc were ready to collect.
I had the quilted look and that involves a lot more work and needs padding out with quality foam so maybe if you go for plain look in standard leather it will be cheaper.

I will upload some pictures for you to look at when I get a chance and I am happy with his work. :thumbsup:

Obviously I have had the work done to my taste in regard to specification-sizing of the diamonds, thickness of padding, single stitching as opposed to double etc.

Paul can do whatever you like within reason. Take a look and let me know what you think and you can ring him and work a deal out with him he's young and dynamic .

I'm hoping to do a ' before and after' thread regarding the changes I've made since buying my car in September. Well, when I eventually get it back from the BMW specialist who's doing all the work, week on Friday was the last I heard. :(
