Door card leather insert.

I tried a quick search without success. Has anyone changed the leather insert on their door cards. I bought red e46 sport seats and the rear ones came as the set so I have spare leather. The red against the black is bothering me. Do we think this would be a DIY job, or leave it to a pro. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, I've just done this exact process... They are securely plastic welded in place, and it's a bit of a ball ache but perfectly achievable if you have the time and inclination.

I bought a yellow/black interior to replace my red seats/door cards. I have extended leather so moved the yellow panels to my door cards.

It's documented elsewhere as I haven't had chance to recreate it here. https://zroadster.org/threads/bmw-z4-removing-leather-panels-from-door-cards.18516/

More than happy to answer any questions ;)

I went for the easier option and paid Cheshire Auto Trim to replace the leather panel. They buy in the leather panels in ,these panels have special stitching were the air bag is located.,
The original leather is removed and bmw matching leather is glued on the panel.I paid £100 earlier this year.

Just backing up what previous posters have said, I re-trimmed my own door cards from black to dark navy. It's a pain in the ass and requires a lot of patience, but it's achievable. There is a company on ebay that sell specifically for the E85. Quality is hit and miss but you can request samples before you buy.
