Door bell/sparky help

Chaps, my door bell drives my dogs nuts. So I want to change my door bell. It's wired to the mains and wired to the button itself. I'm looking for something that's a little more gentle or something that I can put an MP3 on. Any ideas? Might be looking for the impossible?

I think b an q do a range of Siemens door bells an stuff probably might have various tones or record on to them, or you can get ones that instead of audible alert it causes led to start flashing

I did see that but it looks like they're battery and wired to the button (which I don't mind) how to I isolate/terminate the mains that is there?
Thanks bud

The existing set up should have a transformer, you'd need to isolate, the transformer may have a fused spur next to it for isolation which would be ideal, if not it may be fed direct from the fuse bored also would make removing old system simple ish, worst case would be if tapped off another circuit, and how much of the it you want to remove, try this find which switch in the fuse board stops the door bell from working an make a note of what else also stops work on the same fuse

The very fact your asking indicates you shouldn't be messing with a mains wired bell system. That's not meant to be harsh, but if you can't find and isolate the supply then get an electrician to do it.

They can then use the old button push wires to drive your new chosen battery or mains bell.
