as in when it shows 36/37 on speedo am i more likely to be doing 32/33 mph ?
i f3rk1n hope so
gotta pick daughter up at 8pm so got car out earlier & found myself heading up the road for no other reason than pleasure :)
blatted over the moors nearby & returning into built up area near home the dreaded "dixon of dock green" was leering from behind a lampost with hand held gun :headbang:
have now set speed limiter to beep at 35mph

Yes mine does slightly by about 5% iirc, generally you will have a tolerance of 10% +2mph with a speed trap, so genuine 35mph in a 30 mph zone, my wife has just been on a speed awareness course. :police:

More likely to be reading slightly out if you're running different size wheels / tyres. Isn;t it 10% + 2mph leeway they usually allow? Could be wrong though... :(

OEM sizes tend to cause a slightly high reading. My 225/45x18 winter tyres read spot on. (I know, stupid winter size, they were on the car when I bought it, surprisingly, they work fairly well except in deep snow.)

OT but sort of related. Fortunately, I don't encounter too many speed cameras, but there is an increase of these speed feedback signs that tell you your speed, then flash and admonish you to slow down if you're over. There's usually no consequence to ignoring these, but they seem pretty effective in getting people to slow down, at least for a few hundred metres.

The point is these seem to frequently read a bit low. They may say I'm going 40, my speedo says 43, and my real speed by GPS is 42. For the amount of money these things must cost, you'd think they'd be more accurate.

mines 2mph 30 is actually 28 on oem 18inch rims - if they didnt pull you over you will find out within two weeks if you were in the clear or not

i believe it"s standard BMW policy to have the speedo read higher than actual. It was at least 10% on the two BMW motorcycles I've owned. And this was confirmed by the BMW dealer in the states.

per bcworkz. Germany has these in reminders in just about every village. I don't mind them a bit. They fall in line with the original intent of police. if you see a cop. Your less likely to break a law. DUH!
It's just that now days. The police and speed cams are more a revenue enhancement device than a friendly reminder to please obey the law. They would rather hide and wait for a law breaker as opposed to preventing a crime in the first place by being seen. That's why I think that getting a ticket for flashing your lights as a reminder for everyone to obey the speed limit is preposterous. They (cops) look at it as you interrupting the income stream.

Wow!! did i just digress into a rant? Sorry!

They have to pull you straight away with a gun. I don't think they can send a NIP unless they take photographic evidence. I wouldn't worry about it

It will also vary depending how much tyre tread you have left, older more worn tyres will have a great variance to the indicated speed.
