Went out for a ride round the peak district with my local motorcycle club today
Unfortunately one of the group had a serious miscalculation of speed on a bend and ended up 50 feet down an embankment and through a dry stone wall
2 paramedic cars and an ambulance soon arrived on the scene,and as the road was very narrow and there were vehicles parked on a blind bend I moved up the road to slow down oncoming traffic while 1 of the other lads directed traffic at the scene
Eventually, 45 minutes later a police van arrived on the scene. I asked a young police woman if she had any warning signs that I could put out but they had nothing in the van so I said that I would carry on warning traffic by waving my arm.
Eventually the casualty was extricated and taken away , the last vehicle on scene was the police van . As I got ready to leave I saw the police woman walking towards me and thinking that she wanted to thank me for my help I waited for her
Her first words really shocked me, "excuse me sir is that visor legal" she said (it is for daylight use :P )
It really felt great to be appreciated

The rider has a suspected broken collar bone and knee injuries

wholly crap that's a write off, m'bike accidents are no fun, hence sticking to z fun, hope he gets well soon

My experience (as a biker) with the police has been pretty mixed, but generally good. I was stopped doing around 38 in a 30 zone. - quiet evening. I was just told to watch my speed, but was complemented for wearing full leathers, gloves a boots on a hot day.

Equally, I've gone though a light on amber (very clear amber and with traffic right behind me) and been lectured that one day i will meet 'someone like me' coming the other way.

The police are just like the rest of us, some good, some not so. It does sound like the one you met today needs to get a little 'perspective'.

I almost went to the peaks today, but chose iron bridge instead.

Hope he is recovering well...bike looks awful.
Also typical behaviour by the police about the visor I think.
 
Wow... He is lucky with a bike in that state.

Likewise i've had mixed experiences with the police... Tend to get more grief on a bile though... Heck my Z has no front plate and had no problems.. But when the rear plate on my bike is covered by a spec of dust i'd be stopped :lol:

You would have thought a thank you might have been nice! I have only had great interaction with the police when i have been a naughty motorist!

I hope he has a speedy and full recovery. I gave up Biking when a car done a u turn on me and i went over the roof across the other side of the road. And nearly squashed bu a HGV I got away very lightly bruised knee and a broken wrist. And it was a bloody BMW drive that knocked me off :headbang: They really are the worst drivers :rofl:
 
I bought a Zed after non fault head on mbike collision ... 4,5 months humerus non union was enough to put me off riding bikes... :thumbsdown:
