Don't laugh....

I'm a little gutted TBH. The TR7 went to auction today and sold for £6,500 including buyer's fees and VAT.
I would have bid at that. I was expecting it to fetch around £8,000 hammer, as it was a nice one with the sprint engine.

TBH I'd rather have a TR8 than a TR7 with a Sprint engine as the Rover V8 would be far less troublesome!

The V8 suited the TR7 much better than the Sprint..even in its heyday it was much more GT than sports

Sprint was an unhappy marriage ..the revy character didn’t suit the TR7

Imho

Genuine factory TR8s are rarer than rocking horse shite being munched by hen's teeth, though.
The majority were either retro-fitted by Grinnall, or by Terry in his garage.

And because every man and his dog put 'TR8' stickers on them, they are fetching big money now.

The TR7/8 was a forgotten 'classic' until very recently. The prices are rising....probably because they were the only cheap thing left to buy.

British classics are a fickle market and are money pits. The bottom has fallen out of the MGB and Spitfire markets, probably because there is so much tat to choose from. Even TR6s are dropping like a stone. And a restored Jensen Interceptor was fetching £50k+ a few years ago; not anymore.

I have seen a couple of really nice Stags lately. More money and I still don't have the room!!
