Donnington 19/12/2021 - Sunday

Donnington is too far for me but there is a Javelin track day on Monday at Croft I’m thinking of going to

Oooooooooh very tempting! I did say that Silverstone a week ago would be my last of the year, but that may change!

I love Donington, great circuit. I'll keep an eye on it, I doubt its going to sell out any time soon.

How'd you get on at Silverstone mate, car running well? Heard they won't be running any TDO days next year just through themselves

Well in the end Doningtons day got cancelled due to fog, but Javelin was nice enough to give credit back to all those who booked direct.

Well i guess next years credit it is...

:driving:

Ah damn, i have a drift session for Jan.

I'm just about to start another thread for all the 2022 track days i booked if anyone's up for any of them?

Donington on tuesday 24th january? Im booked in with my boxster...
I think it's 25th instead of 24th. I may sign up for the trackday with a black G29.
BTW, do you get insurance for the trackday? If yes, any recommendation?

apologies, you're quite right. Tuesday 25th Jan, with Javelin.

And no, i don't have track insurance, any cars i've taken on track have not been worth enough for me to consider insuring. though i'd heard good things about A-plan and Moris for track insurance.

mine was the blue boxster S - and yes i remember seeing a black G29! how was it? decent day out i thought, so glad the weather stayed dry all day, even if it was rather cold!

Yep, that's mine. Did you get/share a garage as I only saw you on track but not at the car park (that's why hadn't found a chance to say hi)?

It's a good day. Did about 120mile on track. Car was certainly not pushed to the limit but I enjoyed the day. :driving: :driving:

ah yeah i was in a garage when i wasnt out on track... sheltering from the cold!

i think i did similar mileage, was working a bit around the numerous red flags there always are at donington. always wonder how someone manages to go out the pit lane and then immediately bury it in the gravel

do you plan to do more trackdays in the G29? my porsche isnt a track car, but... now ive done two in it, i think i am going to get better tyres and brakes at least - decent tyres makes a huge difference to on track performance. :driving:

Indeed, there were many red flags and I was almost the person who go out the pit lane and enter the gravel. It's the first lap after the lunch brake and the tyre temp drop back to single figure. I've reduced the corner speed by a third but still slide at the first corner and almost got into the gravel. My car is on the Michelin PSS tyre. When it's at 30-40 degree, I found it's really hard to lose grip. But at single digit temperature, I found it really has almost no grip.

Yes, I plan to do more in the G29 (less likely to be more than 5 days per year). I don't have a specific track car and the other car I have is a 520d touring which I think is less suitable than the G29. The car come with the blue msport brake which is sourced from brembo. I found them okay. But during the day when the brake got hot (I mean disc turning blue hot), there were some vibration when braking. I think it's caused by glazing. You are more experienced in track day so if you think differently, maybe give me some suggestion on this. Fade-wise, not much.
