Heres my situation

Have an 06 Z
with Nav

Multi function steering wheel
think i have the basic stereo

Would love to get my iphone 3gs working with all this (bluetooth with calls ive managed)

Ive read about
AUX leads
Dice
and dension

Just wanna know whats best really

Will they ever do an iPhone snap in thingy?

If I fit one of the above options will I loose my cd changer?

Cheers dudes

you want something called "Intravee" - its the same concept as DICS but MUCH better when you have the nav screen (DICE is rubbish, i have it!)
Do a search for that and you will see lots of posts

Im not 100% on the changer

AUX cable would just allow you to play your music in the car - but control via the iphone and not the steering wheel buttons. CD changer still in tact.

snap in adaptor will not help you - that would just replace the bluetooth to connect your phone up.

you can get a BMW i-pod adaptor, but this is similar to DICE

Adaptor does not replace bluetooth - just allows you to charge the phone in car and connect to the external aerial. Adapter is available for the iPhone.

oh yes, pvr is quite right about charging and external aerial. I always was under the impression it connected to your speakers etc so could make calls ex Bluetooth! Learnt something new!!

i thought it was available for the 09 onward cars only.
If not(ie it will fit an 06) where can i get them from?
any links or pictures, Im sure I heard they didnt exist... :?

Regarding the intravee.....sounds good, I take it you get these from their website (via their distributor -the name escapes me)
Who else has got one?
With nav?
easy to fit?
where do you put ur iphone.

Soo many questions, im sorry.

The adapter is available from the dealer, I have seen a number of Z4s fitted with them. The phone is a bit tight in the cradle though.

good old knifey slicey...

PVR I realllllly appriciate those photos! thank you

3 more questions and im done

Easy to fit? (does it plug into cd changer or something?)
do i loose the cd changer beacasue of it?
Best pllace to get one, where, when, how much

*technically thats 5, but shhhhhh

this site rocks :driving:

bmw ipod adaptor off ebay around £70, the mini one works but need to name playlists mini_??? rather than bmw_1

with an adaptor £20 from the apple store you can then charge the iphone. access the five playlists, playlist 6 is the whole iphone.

does not show album names and each time you start the car or change the playlist you have to select random from the headunit if that is what you want.

all in then for under a ton and 30 minute DIY install

Yes - in the CD changer
Yes - you lose he cd changer
Got my in the US from Bimmernav, there is now a UK supplier at www.toysinyourcar.com, can't remember the price would have to check the site again ... You do need an Alpine unit as well though to accomodate the Intravee.

On the link that PVR gave you and select BMW > Intravee II it lists it on there... actually the info is pretty good, also pricing seems about right. There are some install / user guides at the bottom.

Just to confirm also, from you original post; I have the Dension which is great on the standard Business CD but not as good for the nav unit, I believe... I originally tried the DICE but it never worked properly. Wish I had nav for the better iPod integration!

Alpine kca 420i, as per this link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intravee-II-and-Alpine-KCA-420i-iPod-adapter_W0QQitemZ200409281572QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_AudioVideoElectronics_PortableAudio_MP3PlayerCarKits?hash=item2ea952f424#ht_2474wt_1167

Sweet beans

Im gunna get one/them

ok one last question and i'll let you go............

Iphone 3gs plugged into alpine plugged into intravee (or whatever way round)

QUESTION

WILL THE PHONE STILL WORK?

(ideally via my bluetooth prep)

i think so - someone will confirm.

believe the intravee doesn't charge the iphone tho, there might be a mod.

it charges my 5g video ipod, but not my gf's iphone.

The charging issue is thanks to apple dropping support for charging the iphone 3g by firewire which almost every dock/charger used.
