:) got home 3pmish & knowing i'm away for a week tomorrow fancied a" end of a hard week blast " so out the Z came ,
just shutting garage door down when mrs w appears down the drive & caught me like a kid with his hand in the biscuit box 8) (forgot she was off this aft)
"where you going ?" she says
"i'm off hooning " :D her reply with a bemused expression "what ?" "talk english "
anyhow it ended up a hoon for 2 with a beer & a coffee in the pub on the way back

Ha ha. Mine doesn't question me going out for a spin but oh boy I have to hide any "unnecessary" extras I buy :?

Mine does, and loves a hoon when we get a chance to leave Wee Bing elsewhere

She loves a good hoon thankfully, even with the roof down which is a bonus. I need to try the word hoon on her though .. The last time I said it she wasn't even listening and was stopping her hat from flying off

My wife wouldn't know what "Hooning" is.
Likewise, I could say I was off out "Dogging" and she'd be none the wiser.

I'm not the only one
I confessed that I spent £29.99 on the smart top module and was in trouble. Imagine if I told her the real price :?

So having a partner who not only knows what it but buys her own zed so she can join in is a bit unusual then ??

Yeah the she knows what it is. And she shakes her head and looks at me. The way a mother looks at one of her kids when they o something stupid!!!

I didn't know what it meant until I started hanging about on this forum, then I looked it up on google.

Realised I'd been doing it for ages but didn't have a name for it.

Haven't bothered the wife with it yet.

I prefer the term from my homeland. Cruising. Or going for cruise. Most in the US associate that term with the old American graffiti movie and is not "generaly" seen as a negative.

Unfortunately 'cruising' over here seems to have connotations of teenagers in blinged up sub-£1k cars with bean cans or exhausts tearing up urban streets... :(

I guess it's true what they say. The British and Americans are historically similar peoples. Separated by a common language.

That might be an interesting thread if it already hasn't been done. Identical words with different meanings between our two nations.
