Does your engine has more aggressive noise when in Sport Mode?

Hi Gents,

I noticed it before and can see a significant difference in Timing Chain noise when changing to Sport mode. In Eco there is no noise from the front when I change to sport I can clearly hear that timing chain going loud, you can instantly hear the metal to metal noise.

I will probably be at Zedfest this year to have someone check it out, but does any of you have hearable difference in the front of the engine when changing to Sport mode?

Nope.
Do notice more intake noise since the remap and new (better quality) air filter.
If yours is an early N20 though, I would be slightly worried.

N20B20 - 2011 Model, so yeah time to start saving :D :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Just above 84k miles, I was hoping this to happen at around 100k tbh, will try to drag it out for as long as possible.

Also does any1 know good Timing chain change guy around England?

If you can hear it then it’s already too late..you need to get it changed pronto…you are doing possibly irreparable damage to the engine now…

As already mentioned, dragging this issue out is a false economy-get the noise verified & if it’s the timing chain it needs doing pronto!

Will try to record audio tomorrow because It's such a bizarre sound change when going from Eco to Sport, I really wonder what causes it, but never the less will have a professionals look into it.

Interested in hearing this, sport mode shouldn’t have any bearing on noise from the timing chain :?

Had a look around and spoke with 2 mechanics, and yeah the engine makes a different noise when in sports mode but no one can't put a finger on it.

Guess it's a long term project with my local indy if he is keen to figure it out. MOT next month so will keep updated, audio will come in tomorrow.
