It's coming up to that time again and my insurance is soon to be up for renewal. Got a few quotes this afternoon coming in at around the £530 mark fully comp (esure).

What I'd really like to do though is pay insurance for the car to be laid up the majority of the year and when I want to use it, call my insurer to provide cover for that day/weekend/week. Does this sort of service exist? She's fully taxed for the year so there are no SORN issues.

If the above doesnt exist then it would seem insurers may be missing a trick with the sporadic social pleasure market (me).
 
Probably not, as you'd never know in advance how much time you'll use the car over the year, thus it would be impossible for them to quote you. Even if it does exist, I'm pretty certain it would be hideously expensive. I could be wrong though :driving:
 
I think thats called a low mileage policy :P
Try one of the "classic" policy providers, with just social usage of around 3000 miles, you should be able to get something appropriate, although it may or may not be cheaper.

I am looking at the moment too, but mines used daily. So far ClassicLine are the cheapest vs admiral (elephant) on confused.com.
 
Won't be any cheaper to insure , I've tried it , best to go on one of the compare sites and get the lowest quote , there are some good deals on there , try at least 3 sites !
 
getting a policy that is tracker based (as in, they fit a device to your car) might work for you.

OK, I'll admit that IS very expensive... Is that for a full insurance including own damage? If so, than the price seems about right.
In Belgium, the cheapest way to get an insurance is a "low mileage" insurances in name of your parents with yourself as regular/allowed driver. Not sure if this would be the same in other countries?
 
Hi try these guys BRIDLE INSURANCE TEL 023 8024 2530 ,high performance cars is there thing I had my 911 with them and now my. Z4 m they do 7500 miles per year inc 5 track days great to deal with and cover any modified cars worked out the cheapest for me and best cover
