Does this annoy anyone else or am I just being an ///M snob?

I'm still wondering why the Z4M didn't get gills ? Who cares about M-sport packages... not me.

We have Z4 3.0si without M badges as it's the Si, simple. Our daily drive is a 3 Series diesel Touring M Sport 11 plate debadged, apart from tiny M on the steering wheel. It's replacement NEW 3 or 5 series diesel M Sport Touring I think comes with little M badges on the sides unless you opt out. Diesel with M badges, hmmmmm  full M cars should have M badge but the marketing men will no doubt dictate M badges on M Sport cars as it will help sales.

Mate has the new 135M auto and what a car. In my eyes that could be classed as a full M as it goes like stink, handles brilliantly and looks the part. It's also a petrol and not a diesel!!

Diesels with M, errrrrrrr :headbang: and I have a diesel M Sport but it is merely a diesel Sport (that looks good) without badges. It's a diesel, it does 50-60 mpg but it's a DIESEL, it's not an M. :fuelfire:

The Si refers to the engine only, not the trim level. The Si came as either a Sport or SE.

Hmm - bought my first Zed partly because I was under the impression it was special as it was a 'sport' version with M options. . .the sales staff were happy for me to continue that belief of course. :?

It had M badges on sides and rear and I was told by BMW that it came from the factory badged up like that (option). . . :poke:

I'm from an era when if you fixed 'extras' or fitted 'options' you got a little vinyl sticker with them and stuck that to your car to let everyone know what manufacturer you were using to 'improve' your car.

As the options on the first Zed I bought 'improved' the car I could live with the badges - I did like them. :fuelfire:

Interestingly I wouldn't consider having them on my 3.0si

Just reminds of the early 90s local newspaper classified car ads- For sale Ford Escort 1.3,xr3 lookalike, alloys, tints, rev counter, headrests, genuine mileage, first to see will buy, readvertised due to timewaster.

I can't stand it but what I really can't f'ing stand is people badging their cars as M3s etc. I've unfortunately witnessed an Imola red 318 E46 vert badged up as such and a guy who stays in the same place as me has a facelift 318 which actually has an M3 badge on the rear. Looks nothing like a M3. Absolute joker, I could understand if he was a young thing but he's a joggy bottom wearing, balding, slightly more rounder than he should be 40 something.

I parked my Dads M3 vert next to it to show him where he'd gone wrong.

You even get numnuts in 7 series adding them too!

Problem now is that BMW keep adding ///M badges everywhere. If you buy a new 3 or 4 series M Sport model they add ///M badges to the wings. It's mental and actually takes away from what the ///M badge is really about.

It amuses me as most of the cars I see with the 'additional' m badge are diesels.

I wouldn't put down diesels for long though.... Audi seems to do well with them at endurance races. 8)

I have zero M badges on the outside bodywork of my Z4M…. A car enthusiast will know it's a BMW M model…other people think it's a Z4 2.0D :) That people with non M-cars stick extra M badges on their car is something I'm not bothered with… It's stupid, but maybe they think they can fool anyone…so let them try.
