Morning all hope all is well. I’ve tried unscrewing the aerial in my E86 Coupe but it won’t budge. It looks as if someone has tried in the last as there’s some marks on it. Does it unscrew in which case I’ll take a wrench to it. This is only because I want to cover the car and most covers don’t have a section to allow the aerial through.

It should do, but they seem to corrode on the thread.
If you turn too much it'll spin the mount and cause damage.
You need to grip the base firmly, but use a rag or something to prevent damage.
One tip is to try tightening it slightly. Sometimes this is enough to break the grip.

Failing that it's pretty easy to unscrew the whole thing from inside the boot - assuming the side of the wing is as easy to access in the coupe as it is in the roadster.

Best to remove it and replace with a stubby which also adds around 20bhp*.
*Totally made up bhp figures.
But then it becomes impossible to apply all that extra bhp due to the compromised aerodynamics
