Sorry about all the questions but not sure if the sat nav picks up speed cameras?

Was thinking of buying one of the Pogo Alert's? Altough would rather not as it look unsightly?

Didnt know if i could update the software?

Help please

Mitch

No it doesn't.

You can get an 'unofficial version' that does, but you'd be better with a standalone IMO

x5world.com

i have a pogo alert hardwired, and have modded the nav to add speed camera locations, with audible alerts. can't be too careful !

As said you can go unofficial, I've had no problems with mine, shows speed cameras and more POI's. I've just bought from my supplier the latest version which gives voice alerts and 7 digit postcode search. Would you like my old 2008 disc - shows cameras but no voice alert?

X5world.com no longer exists. It has become xoutpost.com  Senwar is correct though. Buy a TomTom for £150 ish & subscribe to PocketGPSWorld.com for around £20 pa for fortnightly UK/European etc. fixed/mobile declared site speed camera updates. Adding speed cameras to your £2000+ BMW SatNav is easy but time consuming - but only if you know how - & you need several computer programmes to burn a disk. Furthermore, BMW/Navteq (Navteq are the Dutch company that produce the BMW DVD Map Disks) only produce 2 UK/European map updates a year (Numbered 2009/01 & soon to be 2009/02 for this year). BMW/Navteq will charge you over £200 for each dvd - although BMW were "only" charging £99.00 in 2008 if you exchanged your old Map DVD. I don't know (& don't care!) if BMW are still doing this.

The fact remains though that BMW are flogging a £2000+ SatNav that is miles behind the capabilities of £150 units from TomTom/Garmin etc. BMW rely on the Company Car market to specify these awful SatNavs.

The hilarious thing is that the UK BMW main dealers know nothing about their own product. Ask your BMW dealer why you are getting a RED "TMC" indication rather than green. They won't have a clue that you need to have tuned one station of your car's radio to "Classic FM" to enable traffic updates & automatic re-routing on your factory SatNav.

If you're going to pick at me ignoring the site renaming, I shall pick at you that, I have had 2009-2 maps in the car now for almost 3 months

Yes, Andy, almost certainly an illegal DVD from eBay - certainly an illegal copy if you have speed camera's. Navteq monitor this site & will pick up on your unique internet address.... :o

Absolutely not a copy from ebay, a copy i modified myself from an original, which is sitting here next to me :)
To anyone from Navteq - please PM me for a telephone number / address if you wish to check 8)

But hey as it's been brought up, if anyone wants help in modifying a legal DVD, let me know.. it's one of the best free mods you can do to a zed with satnav.

Sittingbull - surely if you are an armed service member, you would have one of the best reasons to be out doing "far more important things" than us? I mean, if I had the chance to wake up and attack the enemy using sophisticated weaponary during my day I would be out doing that, not sat on the internet.. I'm confused.

Is the war effort not going to well as widely reported and trying to ruffle feathers on here is giving you that sense of achievement that is lacking at the moment? If things are bad, let us know and maybe a few of us could club together and send you a box with reminders of the great country you're supporting, like, you know.. fish & chips, pictures of the queen, etc etc

Look, Read & digest the Terms & Conditions of your BMW/Navteq Map DVD. The T&C's are plainly on the disk for you to read on your SatNav screen.

You plainly are taking the piss out of the poorly paid British Troops. Would you serve in 50 dgree Centigrade heat for a pathetic £19,000 when good old Gordon Brown sits back on a £197,000 salary with an armoured Jaguar & over 4 specialist firearms officers to protect the waster. He is a coward, as are his pathetic Cabinet Ministers. They are not worthy of the troops that die daily in Afghanistan.Have YOU ever sat with 84mm mortars raining down on you? You have not a clue as to what you are talking about & at the first close round you would probably s**t your pants. Everybody else does.

You are plainly an ignorant moron. Most soldiers/airmen in Afghanistan own Blackberries etc. with internet connection, bought at their own cost as your government would rather pay (as seen on TV last night) £240 a week in benefits (ie your & my taxes) to a waste of space fat & horrible single mother. Come next year Mr Brown will be out & things will change. But not for the better.

Nope just you  Hand me a piece of paper that gives our undervalued troops extra wages and I'll sign it
