Does paint colour change devalue resell value of car?

Evening all,

I'm just wondering if I could buy an old Z4 for say ~£9k and respray it to one of the other factory colours. I'm still looking to buy (once my job goes through) and was wondering about buying a car that may have x colour, and changing it to y.

Also, please let me know about other issues that may arise e.g. insurance? interior colour miss matches?

Can't see the point of buying one and changing to another factory colour as they are not that rare, unless you want a Alpine white ///M Roadster for example. Better to buy in the colour you want, probably give you another £2k plus to play with.

IF you can find one that's been resprayed a different colour and it's cheap then you've probably answered your own question.

Only from the prices on here, but TBH I think you would be looking north of £2k. Stripping the car yourself might save you some cash.

Have you got a specific colour in mind?

What about having it wrapped to a colour you prefer?

Then at least it is reversible when it's time to sell.

+1
Also OP you can pick up very good examples for a lot less than 9k

Around your budget is the Si which i don't think came in any colours that can be classed as "bad" or that would undervalue it against a similar car in a different shade :? therefore any £ you put into changing the colour will be money lost & also alienate 99% of potential buyers when you come to sell
Happy hunting
