Hi,

I asked for a quote from these guys and was very disappointed to find that they don't cover the city centre of Manchester!

My Z4 is parked in a secure underground garage in my block of flats ... but apparently that does not matter as the underwriters wont cover my post code!

Ian

Hi, sorry we couldn't help you but the insurers on our panel won't let us quote for high risk areas regardless of your garaging arrangements. Of course we'd love to be able to quote everyone AND keep the account profitable for insurers but that's not realistic.

Your subject line's a bit misleading as it's only some areas of Manchester we can't cover, such as City Centre.

best,
Nick

Hi Ian .
I also live city centre manchester parked in underground secure car park was just about
To get in touch with Chris about my insurance
Renewal .
I won't be wasting a phone call now !
Cheers Greg.
Ps there are two other z in the same car park .

Don't worry, they don't cover London either. Or generally anywhere i've tried them. Or if you're young, or basically not a Grade A+++ insurance candidate. Totally pointless forum scheme - would be better to pair up with an insurer we can actually use.

I live in a small village in the high peak, only has 4 streets and a main road..

Guess what

Too high risk for Ck. Ha ha

That much of a risk that many companies quoted under £200 for my M coupe..

At least I didn't go through all the questions only to be told no can do . :x
20 minutes of my life saved
Now what to do in them 20 mins ! :D

Maybe a list of postcodes that aren't covered would be useful to the forum save people wasting their time calling

Guys, we'll insure most postcodes but there are some where the insurers require off road parking, or specifically garaging, or won't allow us to quote at all. In the Preston example above we can quote as long as the car is kept on a driveway or garaged overnight. In city centre Manchester they don't want to take on the risk. The insurers on our panel drill down to the digit after the space in the postcode so that they can get a more accurate risk reading.

Additionally, if you've had the Z4 and no previous experience of the performance then that's a no (not actually down to the postcode).

Rest assured there are plenty of this forum's happy members insured with us.

To be fair - they know the odds - just like bookmakers !

Know the odds??????? Don't be ridiculous!!! I asked for a quote to beat Direct Line's of £190. They eventually came back with £550 with an outrageous excess and said it was because of my postcode! I live in a small, rural Yorkshire farming town. BOLLOCKS _ total rip-off outfit who should NOT be entertained. Why are they even plying their trade on this site anyway?

Great question, constantly the majority of the forum seem to be disappointed or turned away entirely.

The problem we have, Chris Knott, is that your response to not actually covering our cars in common locations (hilarious) and being our forum scheme, is to simply dismiss these complaints as edge cases. They are not. Your response should be to add further underwriters and address your lack of products. Whilst i applaud your responsiveness, the lack of action beyond dismissal and excuses basically makes the entire thing pointless - there are no actual benefits to Z4-forum users.

It's gone on for too long, It'd be great to move to a provider that actually understands performance cars and is able to offer insurance to the majority of our members.

When I joined the forum and saw an insurance company given sole rights to trade on here so I rang them hoping for a competitive quote. Have to say I was disappointed to be told they didn't cover my postcode
(I'm probably repeating myself here, but I really wonder why the forum is singling out an insurance company that doesn't want to insure a lot of it's members?)

I'm guessing they pay for the privilege which to be honest I'd be more than happy with if it pays the running costs and keeps the forum up they clearly have saved money for some people although it seems to be the minority but if you are serious about playing the insurance game and getting the best possible price then it cant hurt to have another to try....

That said if we could get someone else in their place that could beat the best quote for more of our members then that is a better scenario

It's exactly the same on the Alpina Forum with Adrian Flux.
They claim to be "Alpina specialists", then when you ask for a quote, they cant find the model on the system and then when they do quote ( by entering details manually!), they are way more expensive than other quotes.

Ridiculous. - They just set them selves up for bad press !
