Does my Z have swine flu?

Yesterday during a 400 mile round trip my Z4 had the 'EML' illuminate. WTF does that mean??? :?

The car still drove as normal and today the light is still on - is this going to be expensive? :!:
 
Most likely a sensor - if it's yellow it doesn't mean terminal.

MAF (mass air flow) sensors are common although I don't know about 2.0l's specifically.
 
I could be wrong but i think the EML lamp is only yellow. If it becomes a severe issue, the "Service Engine Soon" lamp will illuminate and flash.

I probably wrong, but the only yellow and red lamp that I know of is the Tire Pressure Monitor.

Geez! The EML light is the engine managemnt light, this works in a traffic light type system, if it's green dont worry your pretty head, if it's yellow, s**t yourself at the cost of BMW's labour coz it's gotta go in boy-o. When it's yellow the faulty component isolates itself and the rest of the engine is protected. The car is still "drivable" but you will notice the performance drops. If it's red, DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR. Phone BMW emergency assist and they will come to collect it off you, I think the number is 0800 700 100 but I could be wrong. Hope all sorts itself.

Well the car was only serviced last Friday by BMW so I think it's time to return to them angry (again!)

The light is Amber and the car still goes sideways so let's hope it's just a glitch. Thanks for the replies!
