10w/40 would be ok but I wouldn't use the 15w/40 you mentioned in your post, it's too viscous when cold-especially going into the winter months :?

Not in containers, in an engine it will deteriorate over time.

It should be ok. I would use the oil you have. Dont forget to replace the filter.

I am going to use the 5w30 btw. When that runs out will get some 10w60. Sound ok?

Damn it. Just realised that I've got 5w40 not 5w30! Is that ok to use?

Yes it is. I believe the user manual specs 5w30 but 5w40 will be fine as well. Likely the 5w40 oil would have more ZDDP anti-wear/corrosion additives.
