Does anyone wave?

It's not a rare enough car to make 'waves' acceptable. Lotus' and VX220s... Yes. Z4s... No.

how many Lotus and VX220's are there out there, I bet its more than coupes

Aye but the OP didn't specify which model of the Z4 he was referring to. I see at least 2 other Z4s on my way to work. I'd be hard pushed to see 2 VXs or Elises in a month!

It's funny having owned two proper MG's it was/is always the custom to acknowledge another owner and by and large I always got a response to a wave (usually from bearded, flat capped and anorak wearing middle aged men). I have, however never waved or flashed at another Z4, and I now feel suitability shamed in not doing so

So I say that from this day forth we should make a vow to wave, flash or lift a finger to each other.....what do you say guys

Ps and yes doesn't matter if your a coupe or a convertible (the e89 is a convertible, which can look like a coupe :poke: )

do you think this waving (Lack of) may just be a sign of the times, people are just not as friendly these days, people are just rushing around trying to get to and from work, its 1 big rat race

when I had my Z3 I always waved and it was returned,
Now I have a Z4, you ignorant b*stards don't wave at all, so I have given up and just wave to Z3's

I wave or gesture to everything with a Z on it ( not camaros etc) and the other day I waved at a really old guy in a really old Benz convertible, beautifully restored. He didn't mind
I think a lot of the E89 drivers are BMW snobs and don't even know the unwritten rules of owning cool cars....

It's always good to get conversation going!

From what I can gather on all your replies is that most Z4 owners are not wavers, which is a shame as it's a nice little part of any cars ownership. I'll see what happens when I come across my first coupe though. My Mrs always thinks I'm a nutter anyway when I wave!

Most z4 drivers seem to be totally perplexed when i flash (the headlights) at them or wave and a z4 pulled into the petrol station behind me tonight and didn't seem to be interested in another zed in the slightest. :(

Must be me :?

I do acknowledge other zed drivers , however rarely get a respose. A few week back had abit of fun with with a couple of young guys on the cathkin bypass , ( that does sound weird ,,lol ) anyways we arivved at the roundabout side by side , looked across an waved , myself , the other zed driver and his passenger were all grinning from ear to ear ,,,,,, great stuff ! :driving:

Riding motorcycles for years the wave is just second nature and I enjoy it. I have tried on many occasions while driving to wave to fella drivers. The most acknowledgement I've gotten is scowls and of course the finger salute ( I hope it's just mistaken of my wave for something else). What a different response just because of a different vehicle.

Used to get regular waves in my MX5 but they pretty much dried up when I went into BMW ownership(Z3 and Z4.... reinforcing the unfortunate stereotypical view about BMW drivers.

If I see a Z4 I stick to a nod and a finger off the wheel.

I saw the identical car to mine last night on the way home stopped at lights facing me. Could resist a full blown wave as opposed to the normal finger lift and the guy looked at me like I'd escaped Broadmoor...! I'd have thought that a head nod at least was in order...

You lot need to change countries , over here we still wave at each other once in a while, and no-one steals your stubby.

I flashed at a couple of coupe drivers but was told to put it away

Why are girls allowed to flash and men are arrested ?

this post reminds of the old Morecambe and Wise line "It's nice out isn't it? "
