Does anyone use a Quick-Jack or similar?

I’m thinking about buying a Quick-Jack or similar, and wondered if we had any forum users with experience of this or a similar system?

I think the entry level Quick-Jack would be enough based on the weight of the Z4, but thought I see if anyone had first hand experience?

Yeah I have one, I’ve used it to do all sorts on my M3 including gearbox changes, engine removal etc.

Most recently I did the rear brake lines and a suspension refresh in my Z4M.

I’m using the longer version of Quickjack which does, barely, fit between zed’s wheelbase. Oil service, brake jobs, diff oil and more. Quite like them. I usually put some axle stands under the car as well, just to feel more relaxed when crawling under.

What do you need to buy in addition to the jack itself, been reading something about it running of 12v & not mains?

@Martyn are you using the smallest version and does it fit the Z4 jacking points easily enough?

There are both 12v and mains versions, plus three sizes, I think: short, long and heavy duty, iirc. Mine leaks tiny amounts of hydraulic oil from the pump while not used and therefore I have placed it in a plastic storage box with wheels, which stores the hoses as well while not in use. The lifts are heavy and need proper holders if stored upright on a wall. I’ll snap some photos.

I assume the 12v could be run of a car battery or something if my garage doesnt have mains?

Yes, the smaller one is £999 and I think it’s would be a perfect size for my garage and Z4’s

I’m sure in the right hands 3 trolley jacks could be supremely versatile, but I’m not getting any younger and I really like the idea of the ‘ease’ of this system, even if it does come at a price

Presumably these things are chuffing heavy. Consider the practicality of getting them down off the wall and under the car. I guess one advantage is you can lift your car quite close to a wall where you would not be able to operate a jack.
