There was an interesting post on this thread http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21505&start=15 which shows the power (at hubs) of a Z4M running 95ron cheese, sorry, petril.

I've been putting 97+ cheese, sorry, petril, in mine, i'd be interested to hear from anyone who has compared 95 with the higher octane stuff in terms of mpg and general engine "happiness"

dunno whether you have been drinking 95RON or 97RON, but it can't be good for you... suggest you get to the hospital LOL

I use standard 95RON for my Liverpool-London commutes, as there's no need for the extra power or cost on a sub-100mph 3 hour drive each way.

If I'm going on a run - alone or with friends - then I'll make sure my last top-up was super and I'll almost drain the tank before putting a full tank of super in.

I use 95 Ron ALL the time. No issues so far. That's what the car recommends anyway. (see fuel filler compartment)

I always use the high octane in mine, feels a bit mean for M division developing a high performance engine only for me to put in the lower octane in. No idea if there's a tangible benefit but I'm happier with it.

I use 95 .... as a cheap ass .... plus plenty of bang on the cheap stuff

Can't say I would need more power on the queens highway

Doubt there would be much different in BHP. Seen loads of tests with a subaru WRX and a fiesta 1.1 or something. Made a tiny difference on the scoob but nothing on any other car. I FEEL mine goes better with 99RON but probably a placebo effect really. Always use 99RON though :D

I always use super in mine. I definitely feel there is a difference in the timings/response in the engine. That said when I picked up the car the guy at the BM garage said they run just fine on standard. I figure I'm happy to pay a premium to give every little bit out of that cracking engine though!

I don't have an M (yet) but hope to soon. in my 2.5 I mainly use super as the instruction manual recomends it I'm surprised that the m should be recomended to use 95?

I must admit, I tend to put 98RON in mine, but if I`m honest, I never notice any difference ?

Yes, I know it`s completely mad to pay extra when you can`t even tell the difference, but I somehow feel I`m short changing the "steed" if I put anything less in........

It is though, apparently, better for fuel consumption to put the higher grade in, so I just console myself with that........

The car can use—according to the manual and fuel filler cap—anything from 95RON upwards.

The manual states that for peak performance you should use super unleaded - but I can't see the benefit of having that extra 20-30bhp just for commuting or pootling around town.

I used to use 100octane exclusively but since only one company offers it here and i've been getting very frequent O2 sensor fault codes i thought i'd start using 98 from other companies as well. Havent noticed any difference in performance or mileage, not that i pay any attention to my mileage though... Oh and i still get the codes.
