Does anyone else 'lub' their roof mechanism?

Preventative maintainance, got the Z4 out the garage today and lubricated all the pivoting points of the roof i could see.You do see more when you put the roof half way up, i used spray on chain lub that i use on my motorbike chain as it penetrates the joints and doesn't dry up like WD40.I then operated the roof a few times to work it in...........job done.

Even more important is the preventative maintenance on the water channels that run through the back of the car. If these become blocked and fill with water, the roof motor shorts out and it's a hefty bill to rectify. Prob worth doing every three years.

...mine failed at four years old, luckily under warranty or would have prob cost 1,000s (had to eventually replace the motor, pump, corroded water channels, roof frame and roof)

Yes i've already checked and cleared my drainage channels.

GerryM, there's a 'how to' on here somewhere. From emmory, I think may be a link to another forum.

I use GT85 PTFE chain spray from the local bike shop on my roof pivots, gives it a bit of an easier time.

I'm pretty sure that it was on the 'old' Z4um. :(

No, I remember seeing a link on here. It might of been to another forum, but I do recall it here, cause i keep thinking about doing it, then realize there are no leaves in this city and you have a better chance of hitting the jackpot on a slot machine than seeing rain here.
