Hi,
Picked up my 2004 3.0 z4 on friday, very pleased so far. I have retro fitted cruise control, done some detailing in the cockpit, no point worrying about outside in this weather.
Now, the hydraulic arms that assist boot opening/closing are very heavily corroded. Is this normal and where can i get new ones. Once replced i intend to lightly grease these if this is a common corrosion hotspot.

Where is the corrosion? Can't say I've seen it before other than on the 2 metal clips.

Grease if applied to the shaft could damage the seals quickly so I would not.

not seen it on mine and it lives out side all year. but I do once a month go round all joints with three in one.no probs yet. :driving:

I would be applying some light silicon grease, I don't mean heavy duty grease. I am a marine engineer so not totally unaware of the clash some lubricating compounds have with rubber/viton seals.
I just wondered if this was common, I had seen it on one other z4, prior to this, I intend to remove and clean them up, they work just fine and at £42 per side, phew thats not cheap!

Sounds like you know plenty about grease then :)
You'd be amazed what some people do...

At £80+ I'd be cleaning them up too
